Aerogel
A packing that can be prepared if the dispersing agent can be removed from a gel system without collapsing the gel structure. Silica gels and glass beads used for size-exclusion chromatography (SEC) are examples of aerogels, which can retain their structures even at the high pressures used in HPLC .
